Wee Chee Taw Indian Sculpture Flood Marker #3

Description

This represents the 3rd of a series of pictures taken at the site of the Wee Chee Taw Indian Sculpture.  The legend centers around the interpretation of the phrase, 'Wee Chee Taw'... which is supposed to mean 'waste deep'.  The tale states they sent their squaw out into the river to see how deep it was.  The irony of this series is that in 2006 in October and 2007 in June we had serious flooding via the Wichita River, which was the river the Indians were testing.  Note that the son has more prominence in the pecking order than she does!  Now, watch the area outside of the defined sculpture bed - this side of the rocks.  The Wichita River is represented by the area encased in the rocks between the son and the mounted horsemen, and the woman.  She is standing in the water...waste deep.  The previous picture is the earlier flood, which was not so drastic.  This one was called the 100 year flood.  I may post one more of the Sculpture at normal levels if I can find it.
